Young Adults
The ELCA defines young adults as ages 18-35, and has a few dedicated opportunities for young adults to learn, live, and serve in their faith:
Service and job opportunities:
- Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) an almost year long opportunity to live abroad and serve in a faith community and live out the ELCA's theology of accompaniment.
- Lutheran Volunteer Corps (LVC) similar to Americorps, LVC offers year long service based job opportunities. Look here for placements and application information.
Looking for community?
- Gather Network is an ELCA ministry connecting young adults across cities, campuses, and regions. We have a few already established Gather Networks in Washington.
- Gather South Sound is a group of young adults based in or near Tacoma, WA. Gather South Sound focuses on growing fellowship and service and justice opportunities in and near congregations in the Tacoma area.
- Gather King County is another young adult ministry based out of Mercer Island.
- LeadNET is a digital platform specific to the ELCA, it works similar to Facebook group pages and LinkedIn to provide a space to hold resources, connect people, discussion forums. and specific alumni/leadership groups. This can be a great resource for those looking to get connected!"
